South African Political Cartoonist
I think the freedom of the press in any country can be determined by their political cartoonists... Take for example the Mail and Guardian's Zapiro, who has followed the movement of the South African government's stance on HIV/AIDS closely....

He has a few things to say about the way the American Military treats the press, how President Mbeki is failing with his "quiet diplomacy" and the king of Swaziland also... Definitely worth checking out or even subscribing to the e-mail they send out! Brilliant.
